Three Oaks, Michigan
enjoys four distinct seasons. There is a saying in this part of the country that goes, "if you don't like the weather, wait a day and it will change." This is because both the warm, humid air coming up from the Gulf of Mexico, and cold, dry air from the Arctic influence the climate. Located near the shores of Lake Michigan, the climate in Three Oaks is also influenced by the "Lake effect," which helps keep temperatures mild during the summer and increases the moisture content in the air throughout the year. In the winter, this moisture condenses as snow as it reaches the land, sometimes creating heavy snowfalls in some areas, known as "snow squalls" on the downwind shores of the lakes. Showers and thunderstorms are common in the spring and summer, and fall is often the sunniest time of the year in Southwest Michigan.
